Hannah Qazi: Assignment #9 - War sucks

In modern society, the concept of warfare has evolved from one that is physical, found on battlefields with soldiers carrying armed weapons to one that transcends these physical boundaries. For instance, cyber warfare continues to threaten the security of even the most technologically advanced countries, like the United States. Although this kind of warfare still has consequences, they aren't as severe as they would be with physical warfare. So to answer the question, "Is there a time for war?" with this definition of warfare, I would say yes. While most countries resort to warfare as a final solution in the most drastic times, they should still consider if any preventative, diplomatic actions can still be taken. There will never be enough moral justification to support all out warfare, but countries should be responsible for upholding their moral values and defending basic human rights for all citizens. Meaning, they should consider the lives of not only the individuals in their own countries, but every country. There are still many alternatives to direct warfare, through diplomatic treaties, or economic interactions such as tariffs that, despite consequential, aren't as impactful as war.
