Assignment #15- Emma Shadwick- Soothing Pottery

When I do get free time, which is rare, one of the first things I think to do is to go paint pottery at the Mad Potter. I have been going there since I was a kid and it has very fond memories for me. Now, on the rare occasion that I get to go, I enjoy it just as much as I did when I was young. They have mugs, plates, vases, and so much more that you can paint. Then they fire it for you and you pick it up within a week. The best part is seeing the glossy finish and bright colors on your final project.

Painting is so soothing for me. I could get lost in it for hours. I am a very meticulous person so I take my time with every project and make it as neat as I can. Sometimes mistakes are bound to happen and that’s ok too. This Christmas I am planning to go and spend at least two hours at the Mad Potter to paint Christmas gifts for family members. It is kind of my signature gift to my parents and aunts.

I have always wished that I was artistic and could draw whatever I wanted. But unfortunately I was not blessed with this talent. Luckily, my artistic outlet is painting and it requires no special talent. All you have to do is pick out a good color scheme and run with it.

I have always wished I had time for more hobbies but it’s safe to say this is my second favorite behind playing volleyball.
