Assignment 9- Annie Bohannon- ugh war :(

I think there is a time for war. When people are dying unnecessarily and it threatens the lives of your countries people I think that there’s no other choice than to go to war. But if you’re able to compromise and negotiate I think that is the better option. I do not think it is morally right to kill other people even if it’s in a war. But I do think that when threats and injustices reach a certain level that war is inevitable. I don’t think that wars over land disputes or wars for economic benefit are okay because these issues could easily be resolved without violence. But some issues cannot be resolved so easily. for example the Civil War was fought over the issue of slavery and even though the country tried to compromise and resolve the issue peacefully they cannot. But since the issue of slavery was so severe and it seriously incriminated on the rights of African-Americans going to war was worth it. I think that compromises and  to the negotiations are effective but they also leave some room for error. I feel like war is more definite and the outcome and countries are more likely to keep agreeing to the treaty’s made it they lost a war over it. Compromises and negotiations leave room for countries to go back on their word and continue to do whatever the war was fought over.
