#15 - M'Kiyah Baird: Musicals

Something that absolutely geeks me out every time is Hamilton and Newsies, two musicals. I'm a sucker for musicals. From Lemonade Mouth to Wicked, musicals slowly took over my life. Hamilton especially was a musical that I could share interest in with my best friend. I immediately fell in love with the cast and the creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda. The songs are so emotional and the characters are amazing even though they're all dead founding fathers who weren't all the best of people. However, I love the characters not necessarily the people themselves. Newsies, on the other hand, has the same great characters and music. I sing both of the soundtracks frequently but I've yet to see Newsies in person like I did Hamilton. I think I like the Newsies movie better than the musical, but I love them both. Musicals in general have always been great to me. I love music and movies so musicals bring those two together. They have the ability to make you actually enjoy learning new things. I'm most definitely not a history fan and yet Hamilton, Newsies, and Anastasia have all made me enjoy learning it.
