Assignment #14 - Megan Ewing - Changing Traditions

My Thanksgiving Traditions change pretty much every year. Last year, my family went to visit my aunt in Washington, D.C. for Thanksgiving but my mom couldn’t come since she had to work the day before. So that Thanksgiving felt weird, especially with the addition of vegan desserts since my vegetarian cousin brought her vegan boyfriend over for dessert. Sometimes, my family goes to Indiana to visit my grandparents. We went to visit my mom’s parents this year. They live on a farm in a small town, which is one of the most amazing places to visit. Thanksgiving there didn’t quite feel right either though since one of my uncles couldn’t come or bring his two sons and seven of my extended cousins couldn’t make it. For a while, my dad’s family would all meet at his mom’s house, which always ends in fighting since the kitchen there is too small and there are too many children and not enough beds. Once, my dad’s family all met at my house for Thanksgiving. Overall, my family’s only Thanksgiving traditions are being with family and the food. We almost always have my mom’s cheesy potatoes and her sweet potatoes.
