When I was little, around 6 years old, I thought I wanted to be a painter. I would spend hours making these abstract pieces and then sell them to my parent's friends. While I lost interest in pursuing art as a career, I very much appreciate all works- anywhere from music to poetry, or architecture to photography.
Now, this may be attributed to my parents because they're both architects and ever since I was little they would take me to museums when we visited a new state or country. Now as a little squirt I found the task burdensome as my little feet could hardly stand for more than 15 minutes, but as I grew older I could stand in a museum and look at the same painting for hours. Artwork is unique- every time you look at a piece, you find a new meaning, a new object, a new pattern, a new technique, a new reasoning behind it- It's so mesmerizing.
Also thanks to my parents, I can point out the flaws in every person's house (architecture wise), "The porch is way out of proportion to the rest of the house", "They should have used a different siding", "Those windows are too small" - etc.
Artwork has forever been an essential part of my life, mainly because of my parents, but as I grow older, I become more independently appreciative of it. Like I said earlier, artwork can mean different things, and depending on what mood I am in I can change the interpretation, creating a never-ending story and comfort.
