Assignment #6- Everything is an Advertisement- Sneha Amrit


My sophomore year my group did our practice group presentation for the AP seminar test on advertising and the disparities in transparency that many celebrities have when they advertise different products. This has made me interested in how advertising affects people and how different people are able to sell things to their fans. I find it very interesting that while advertising celebrities are able to connect with the consumer and convince the consumer that they both have a relationship together and that is why the consumer should buy the product that the celebrities are promoting. In reality this is a one sided relationship and while the consumer is familiar with the celebrity, the celebrities have no idea who the consumers are. The only thing they know about their fans is that they are potential buyers of their products. This project launched me into a research spiral and allowed me to understand why I am often compelled to purchase items that I have no need for, but are advertised to me.
