Assignment #2: Hannah Qazi - Stephen King is a god

Three years ago, you could easily find me curled up with a book in some random corner of my room, breezing through the pages of some trashy John Green novel with the false belief he was a literary genius. My current reading material has morphed into mostly horror fiction and the occasional Buzzfeed article. Stephen King is now my John Green, and although I've only read two of his novels this year: Carrie and IT, he has already proved his worth. He has allowed me to delve deep into the genre of horror and thrillers and despite the gore and trauma I've experienced as a result, it's been amazing. The protagonists of both novels have resonated with me, which I believe is part of the reason I have such an affinity to them. On the other hand, I've also been obsessed with Kevin Kwan's Crazy Rich Asian Trilogy and I managed to read all three books in one month. Not only do they encompass the quintessential Asian family dynamic, which I relate a little too strongly to, but the combination of spontaneous plot twists and hilarious commentary from the author, have me laughing and crying at once. A common trait between these three novels is that all of them, though somewhat tragic, provide a generous amount of comic relief, which is probably why they're some of my favorite ones.
