Assignment #20- Extremely useful- Benjamin Webster

This is an important way to recognize the signs of a stroke. It’s something that accounts
for the deaths of around 140,000 Americans a year. It’s important to know how to act F.A.S.T (Face, Arms, Speech, Time). The first step at recognizing a stroke is see if there is drooping or weakness in the face. You should ask the person to smile. Next ask them if they can move their arms up. Even if they are unable to move just one, still count it. After that ask the person to speak a simple sentence. If their speech is garbled and they have weakness in their arms and face, make good use of your time. Have the person sit down and call 911 immediately. Make sure that they don’t pass out. After confirming they are having a stroke, create an approximate timeline of events so if EMS asks, you’ll know. This information is something that can save a life. So please try and remember it.
